Violin lessons

My son has started his first violin lesson last Saturday and he was pretty excited about it. He thinks he is making music as he confidently strums the strings of the violin. I for one still thinks that he is making noises rather than music. I could hear screechings and scratchings coming out of the violin rather than music that calms the soul. I had to endure it from Saturday until Monday, morning, noon and night. Unfortunately I can't ask him to stop because he was clearly enjoying himself. What can I say I brought this to myself encouraging him to play the violin. Hopefully a few more lessons will lead to him playing something significantly more musical. Wish me luck!
